Netflix lowers prices

It appears that the Netflix account I’ve been considering canceling (thanks to lack of use) has just dropped in price. I just received the following email:

Dear Ryan,

Great news! We’re lowering the price on our 2 DVDs out at-a-time plan to $13.99 a month plus applicable taxes. Now you can enjoy Netflix for less!

You don’t need to do a thing - except pay less. Your membership will automatically move to the lower price and be reflected in your Membership Terms and Details. The lower price will take effect beginning with your statement on or after June 28, 2007.

Your $13.99 plan gives you 2 DVDs out at-a-time and you can also watch 14 hours of movies and TV episodes instantly on your PC each month - for no additional charge. Click here to check it out.

Enjoy! Your friends at Netflix

I’m still on the fence in regards to the status of my account. I’m not sure how a drop from $14.99 to $13.99 changes my feelings.

Yeah, I got that message as well. Now, if only they could get the DVDs to my mailbox FASTER -- that'd be an improvement!

Yeah, that'd be nice. First step for me: Change my address in their system to reflect my Knoxville location.

In Lawrence they were very fast. Send off Monday, get the new on Wednesday.

I had much worse luck here last summer, when it would take 3 days or so for the mailman to even take the dvd out of the mailbox to send it in. Turnaround time was about a week!

Wait, Netflix let's you watch 14 hours of TV on your computer each month? I have the Blockbuster plan right now and like being able to exchange in-store, but I might consider switching if I can easily "rent" those TV shows ("Heroes" springs to mind) that I want to watch from the beginning.

What don't you like about Netflix, Ryan?

Stu - The full catalog isn't available for online viewing. I'm not sure what is / isn't, however.

I really like Netflix. I've had great service. I just haven't been using it this summer.

I think that posting a blog entry about your emotional ambivalence over the $1 price drop in your Netflix subscription is a giant step forward in web discourse.

Serious fking business.

I shoulda dropped my subscription at the beginning of the summer - I've used it for two movies since then. Oh well.

Hey - that $1 each month adds up to an extra $12 a year - to a college student, that's an extra beer a night for a week, 12 meals worth of Totinos pizzas.
