Avalon Star: CSS Reboot’s Lost Identity

This was the first Reboot occasion that I actually had a site (relatively) ready to participate with. Sadly, this year’s May 1st CSS reboot was more an afterthought than an event in celebration of web standards and creativity.

Lots of factors contribute to the dud that was the CSS Reboot:

  • Lack of promotion by new CSS Reboot owner
  • Lack of love and devotion from new CSS Reboot owner
  • Web standards now really are the standard for design, reducing the need to gather ‘round the cause
  • Generic “let’s throw a CMS with a default template and call it a website” website did nothing to celebrate the content it was supposed to distribute

How unfortunate. But then again, I never had a that I felt was worthy of promotion anyway.

... maybe next year.

That should have read "But then again, I never had a site that I felt was worthy of promotion (among that community)".

Maybe not, but you've certainly created a site that's home to it's own important community. And that's really freakin cool.
